We’re a Web-based application provider based in San Mateo, and need reliable production assistants who can tackle a wide range of tasks. The tasks can range from brain-dead HTML production to junior-level design work. The requirements are as follows:

* Expert at hand-coding HTML and with Web production
* Expert with Photoshop and Illustrator
* Web-based design experience
* Obsessive attention to detail
* You’d rather slam a car door on your hand than miss a deliverable
* Intermediate knowledge of JavaScript, CSS, DHTML, Flash
* Bonus: QuarkXPress know-how (will settle for InDesign), illustration ability

We will probably start you wil the boring stuff and move you along to the more interesting, right-brain-intensive design work (with an appropriate increase of your hourly, of course). This may be an excellent opportunity for an upper-divisional art school student or recent graduate. We are looking for an full-time associate user-interface designer sometime in the future …

You will be working from home, and will keep your own hours. The hourly rate will be DOE, but probably in the $20-30 range. Bay Area applicants are a plus, since it may help to bring you into our San Mateo office occasionally.

Do this.
Qualified applicants should send your resume, portfolio URL(s), and desired hourly rate to nicki.lighthouse@gmail.com.

Don’t do this.

Don’t gloss over the “Do this” section. Remember: resume, URL(s), hourly rate.
Don’t copy-and-paste a boilerplate cover letter; it’s annoying and it’s just more scrolling we have to do in order to get to the good stuff. If you want to take a minute to jot down why you think you’re especially qualified, that’s great — but if not, skip it.
Don’t reply if you’re based overseas.
Don’t reply if you represent a design company.

* Compensation: DOE
* Telecommuting is ok.

* no — Please, no phone calls about this job!
